Fresh anti-regime rallies held in Yemen

Tens of thousands of anti-regime protesters have once again taken to the streets in the Yemeni capital of Sana’a, as anti-government rallies continue in the Middle Eastern country.

The protesters that participated in the Wednesday rallies demanded the ouster of Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Similar protests were also held in the southern city of Taizz.

Last week, thousands of people took to the streets in Taizz, shouting slogans against the United States and Saudi Arabia for meddling in their country’s internal affairs.

Yemeni forces resumed crackdown against protesters after Saleh returned to the country from Saudi Arabia, where he received medical treatment for injuries from an attack on his palace almost three months ago.

More than 170 people, mostly unarmed protesters, have been killed in the capital since last Sunday, according to AFP.

Earlier in the day, Yemeni tribal forces shot down an army aircraft north of Sana’a, a Defense Ministry official said.
