The body of 27-year-old Mohammed Karakra, was handed over to his family to be laid to rest, after it was held in the Israeli Abu Kabir forensic institute.Mohammed was shot dead last Wednesday after stabbing two Israeli soldiers not far from his hometown Sinjil, to the north of Ramallah, and near the entrance to Israeli settlement of Shilo.

Hundreds of Palestinians attended the funeral processions. Mohammed’s body, with face uncovered and wrapped in Palestinian flag, was carried through the town of Sinjil. Mourners held pictures of the slain man and waved Palestinian flags.Mourners asserted that the ongoing Israeli violence and killings have been main reasons leading to an escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Mohammed is the second Palestinian man who has been killed by Israeli army in a week. Stabbing and targeting Israeli soldiers has been the latest in a wave of Palestinian-run attacks which have been on the rise since Israeli war on Gaza last summer.

Mohammed Karakra was shot dead by Israeli soldiers, because he had chosen to resist the Israeli occupation and the regime’s unbearable violence.Karakra’s martyrdom is seen by the Palestinians as a clear message: that as long as Israel continues to occupy Palestinian territories, different forms of resistance will go on.
