“Gaza crisis the most important event in the Islamic World”

Tehran’s interim Friday prayers leader, Hojjat-ol-Islam Kazem Seddighi, has emphasized that the crisis in Gaza is the most important and pressing issue which the World of Islam faces today.

According to IRIB World Service, addressing a huge crowd of Friday prayers worshippers and the faithful in Tehran, Hojjat-ol-Islam Kazem Seddighi strongly condemned the Zionist regime’s on-going military offensive against Gaza, and emphasized that the crimes being committed by the Zionist regime against the innocent people of the Gaza strip cannot be justified in any way – either logically or legally. Hojjat-ol-Islam Seddighi pointedly added: “What the Zionists are doing is illegal under international law”.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Hojjat-ol-Islam Seddighi said the Zionists are using every opportunity to commit more crimes in Gaza. He poignantly added: “History of this region has shown that the massacring of about 2000 people in the Gaza strip, and displacement of tens of thousands of others, happens very rarely , and has few precedents”.

Tehran’s interim Friday prayers Leader also expressed surprise that various international bodies had remained silent vis-à-vis Israeli crimes and atrocities in the Gaza strip. He pointedly added: “These international organizations, ostensibly, have been formed to protect smaller nations – to prevent them from being bullied – but when a tyrannical regime (Zionist regime) is oppressing the people of the Gaza strip, these organizations said nothing, and with their silence they actually supported and encouraged the Israeli regime”.

Tehran’s interim Friday prayers Leader went on to criticize a recent comment by Ban Ki Moon , the UN secretary general, who had earlier called on the Palestinians to set free an Israeli soldier. Hojjat-ol-Islam Seddighi stressed that it was “deplorable” that the United Nations had taken no serious steps / action to halt the Israeli regime’s murder of hundreds of Palestinian children.

Turning to America’s unstinting and open support of the Zionist regime — that includes political, media, and military support — Hojjat-ol-Islam Seddighi chided a number of regional countries which gave a muted response to Zionist crimes and atrocities in Gaza. He pointedly added: “Their silence is shameful and history will record this”.

Referring to the people of Gaza’s resistance to brutal Zionist attacks, Hojjat-ol-Islam Seddighi said their resilience is truly praiseworthy.

Turning to developments in Iraq, Hojjat-ol-Islam Seddighi expressed hope that with the election of a new Iraqi prime minister, the stage will be set for calm and stability to return to that country.
