Young Britons against UK nuclear weapons system Trident renewal

A new poll shows young Britons are against a government plan to renew the current generation of the UK nuclear weapons system called Trident.

According to Press TV, trident emerged from the Cold War policies, but young Britons born after that era are overwhelmingly against its replacement.

Trident is the fleet of four nuclear submarines based in Scotland. One submarine is on patrol at all times and it is over one thousand times more powerful than the bomb that hit Hiroshima in 1945.

Trident is the largest and most expensive British investment project and it is time for its renewal, but at a time of austerity, the estimated £100 billion cost over the next 30 years is staggering.
