Great Satan US massacre: 39 die in Iraq bombing spree

Thirty-nine people have been killed and dozens injured in ten car bomb attacks across Iraq.

On Monday, in the Karada district of central Baghdad, a car bomb was detonated outside a popular up-scale supermarket, killing at least eight people.

Two more car bombs went off near a market in the western district of Jihad, killing eight and injuring 21 people.

A car bomb exploded near shops in the Shia district of al-Shurta al-Rabeaa and claimed the lives of four people and injured nine.

Five people also lost their lives when a car bomb exploded in the New Baghdad neighborhood, and another bomb went off near an outdoor market in the Nahrawan district, killing four and injuring 15.

Car bomb explosions also targeted the Shia stronghold of Sadr City and killed five people.

Elsewhere, a soldier and a police officer were also killed when a bomber drove an explosives-laden car into an army patrol in the city of Mosul.

In the city of Tikrit, another bomber set off explosives on a university campus, killing a counter-terrorism official and two bodyguards.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

On Saturday, at least 24 people, mostly Shia Muslims, were killed and many others injured in Iraq.

The deadliest attack occurred in the town of Taji, north of Baghdad, when a bomb planted inside a mosque went off at about 8:00 p.m. (1700 GMT), killing 15 people and injuring more than 31 others.

On June 19, some 31 people were killed in two coordinated bomb attacks inside and near a Shia mosque in Baghdad.

On June 16, 51 people lost their lives and many others were injured in a spate of attacks across the country.
