The weapons of mass destruction used by the US military during the 2003 invasion of Iraq created serious health problems for a whole generation of Iraqis, a geopolitical analyst in New York says.

“The United States’ use of depleted uranium and other destructive weapons in the Iraq war has created essentially a generation of young Iraqis an incredible amount of health problems, with deformities and other issues,” said Eric Draitser on Tuesday.

“Really what we’re looking at is a systematic problem, a policy if you will, where the United States uses these sorts of weapons and then attempts to cover-up the impact that they have on the society and the people upon which they were used,” Draitser told Press TV.

“We should also point out that Israel, like the United States, has a long history of using these sorts of destructive weapons. Of course we know the use of phosphorus bombs in Gaza in 2006 and at other times as well,” he added.

Titanium and other metals have been found in the lungs of at least six sick US military veterans who were deployed to Iraq during the war, a new study has found.

According to the study by New York’s Stony Brook School of Medicine, which is set to be released Monday, the Iraqi dust found in the veterans’ lungs also contains copper and iron in addition to titanium.

Draitser said the recent report is just the “tip of the iceberg with regard to the problems that have been spread in Iraqi society.”
