Ground Force Commander: N. Deal Cannot Stop Iranian Armed Forces from Increasing Power

“The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the post-sanctions conditions are not related to the Armed Force, and they will continue enhancing their capabilities and will use all capacities to reach their goals,” Pourdastan said, addressing a Ground Forces’ gathering in the Northeastern city of Mashhad on Wednesday.

Warning that today the region and Iran are facing proxy wars, he said, “Today the ISIL is committing crimes in Iraq and Syria as a proxy for the US but fortunately, the popular forces and the army of these countries have stood against them well.”

In relevant remarks in October, General Pourdastan underlined his forces’ preparedness to fight against enemies’ proxy war against Iran.

“The Iranian Army’s Ground Force is ready for fighting war of proxies and the Ground Force’s units have shown their high capabilities for such battles,” Brigadier General Pourdastan said, addressing a group of the army cadets.

He pointed to the Ground Force’s rapid reaction forces, and said, “All units of the Iranian Army’s Ground Force have Rapid Reaction Forces that enjoy high capabilities and have access to advanced weapons and military operations’ tactics in proportion with threats.”

On October 17, Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Ground Force Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari said his forces have been equipped with state-of-the-art anti-armor and Air Defense weapons and equipment.

“The Ground Force’s Rapid Reaction Force is now equipped with the most modern anti-armor and Air Defense military hardware,” General Heidari told reporters.

He said that the Ground Force’s Rapid Reaction Force has been formed for any possible threat in future, and added, “It is a unique unit in terms of both manpower, defense technologies, fire power and movement capabilities and mobility; these forces can be dispatched to the most remote regions of the country in the shortest period of time, that is within four hours, and immediately act and engage in battles.”

General Heidari pointed to the equipment supplied to the Ground Force’s Rapid Reaction Force, and said, “These weapons and equipment are unique and supplied to no other Army unit; the RPG-29 weapon system which enjoys mobility is one of such equipment.”

He referred to the heliborne and parachuting operations training of the Rapid Reaction Force, and said, “This unit can carry out missions under any kind of condition and in any place.”
