A coalition of Egypt’s Islamic groups has told EU Foreign Policy chief Catherine Ashton that the Egyptian people will carry on their demonstrations until the toppled President Mohamed Morsi is reinstated.

“The coalition affirmed the Egyptian people will not leave streets and squares until constitutional legitimacy returns,” the statement was issued after they met with EU foreign policy chief on Tuesday.

Earlier, Ashton held two-hour talks with Mohamed Morsi, who has been detained since his demise on July 3.

On her last visit on July 17, Ashton had unsuccessfully requested to meet Morsi and urged his release.

Meanwhile, a fresh wave of mass rally is underway in Cairo. The Anti-Coup Alliance of Islamist issued a statement on July 29, calling for a million-man march on Tuesday.

The call came while the country’s National Defense Council earlier warned of taking “decisive action” if demonstrators exceed their limits.

Tensions are running high across the North African Country amid heavy crackdown on pro-Morsi protesters, which has left dozens dead.

On July 27, at least 150 people were killed and scores of others injured in clashes during rival demonstrations by supporters and opponents of Morsi across the country.
