Hamas: Armed resistance is the real deterrent to the occupation

The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, said on Monday in a statement on the anniversary of the 1948 Nakba that resistance, especially the armed one, is the real deterrent to the occupation, and that what is taken by force can only be returned by force.

The Palestinians commemorate these days the 69th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba which was a tragic turning point in their lives as they were robbed of their land and property and were subjected to systematic killing and displacement by the Zionist gangs in 1948.

The 15th May of each year is marked to remember the mass displacement of more than 750,000 Palestinians from their homes and lands in 1948 and to the Zionist Movement’s announcement of the state of Israel after taking over the greater part of Palestine with the help of Britain.

Hamas said in its statement that the battle with the Israeli occupation will not end until liberation and the Palestinian people will never give up “one grain of soil of their homeland”.

Hamas pointed to the many attempts aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause and delegitimizing the Palestinian resistance and slammed at the same time the Palestinian Authority’s security coordination with Israel.

The Movement called on the Palestinian people to be united and to adhere to their identity and the national constants to be able to confront the Israeli occupation.

On the prisoners’ issue, Hamas confirmed its full support for hunger striking prisoners and vowed to exert every effort possible to achieve an honorable prisoner exchange deal similar to the Wafa al-Ahrar deal.

It concluded by assuring the Palestinians in refugee camps and in the diaspora that the time of return is near.
