Hamas critical of Arab summit declaration for ignoring Gaza siege

images_News_2014_03_26_summit_300_0Hamas movement regretted the fact that the Arab summit final statement on Wednesday was void of any reference to the siege on Gaza.

Hamas pointed out that the “Kuwait Declaration” did not include a mechanism to implement previous summit resolutions regarding breaking the siege on Gaza and boosting the Palestinian people’s steadfastness.

The movement said that the Palestinian people had great aspirations that the summit would live up to national responsibility toward the latest serious developments in the Palestinian question and the dangers threatening the Aqsa Mosque, the accelerating Judaization of Jerusalem, the cancerous settlement activity in the West Bank and the Gaza siege.

Hamas, however, expressed appreciation for the strong speeches delivered by some Arab leaders regarding the Palestine cause.

The Arab leaders condemned the growing settlement activity in the West Bank and the attempt to strip Jordan of its religious sovereignty over the Aqsa Mosque.

The Arab leaders in their final communique reiterated demands for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, on the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.
