Hamas hails hunger strike deal as “triumph of dignity”

The Hamas Movement hailed the deal between the hunger strikers and the Zionist Israeli prison authority as “the triumph of dignity” over the oppression of the jailer.

In a press release on Monday, Hamas stated that this new victory was an extension to the triumph achieved by the Palestinian resistance when it managed to extract the freedom of more than 1,000 prisoners in a swap deal with the occupation.

Hamas expressed its appreciation to all the Palestinians who supported the hunger strikers and all friends and organizations throughout the world for their solidarity efforts.

It emphasized that its leadership sponsored and followed up this hunger strike since its first day and dispatched political and national delegations to Cairo to back the cause of the hunger strikers, which culminated finally in this deal.

For his part, Hamas lawmaker Mushir Al-Masri said the Israeli submission to the demands of the hunger strikers affirmed that the option of steadfastness and challenge is the optimal way to extract the usurped rights.

Masri stated in a press release on Monday that the issue of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails would remain one of the national priorities until all of them obtain their freedom through all options.

The lawmaker saluted all prisoners who fought the hunger strike battle and imposed their will on their jailers.

Head of the Palestinian center for human rights Raji Surani, for his part, told journalists that the struggle of Palestinian detainees for their rights is humanitarian, legal and political and described them as political prisoners par excellence.

Surani stressed that the media rallying around the hunger strikers was the main reason for the success of their battle which ended with an Egyptian-brokered deal.
