Syrian Army Saturday ambushed the terrorists of al-Nusra Front in the Northern part of Dara’a province, and killed or injured 15 of them.

The Syrian army ambushed al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front on Sheikh Meskeen-Enkhel road, killed or wounded 15 of the terrorists and destroyed a number of their vehicles.

On Friday, the Syrian army troops repelled an offensive of the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA) on their positions near the town of Sheikh Meskeen in Dara’a province and killed at least 24 militants.

The sources said that the FSA’s “Al-Khalifa’ Al-Rashideen Battalion” of 1st Brigade launched a large-scale assault near Sheikh Meskeen in order force the Syrian army’s 5th Armored Division to exit the Western district of the town, but the Syrian army’s 15th Brigade of the 5th Armored Division encroached enemy combatants with a powerful blow that forced the aforementioned group to retreat towards the Eastern district in order to evade the Syrian Armed Forces and the swarming helicopter gunships from the Syrian Air Force.

According to a battlefield report from the city of Izra’a, the 15th Brigade was able to forestall any advance from the FSA and they reportedly killed between 24-30 enemy combatants in the process of clearing the area.

On Wednesday, the Syrian Army, popular forces and Hezbollah fighters broke through the defense lines of the militant groups at the entrance of Sheikh Meskeen and deployed their units in the town.

The sources said that the pro-government forces’ joint massive operation in the Northern part of Dara’a province, which was launched in the early hours of Wednesday, brought about significant victories against the militant groups in the strategic town of Sheikh Meskeen.

The sources further added that the Syrian forces and their allies’ rapid advance towards different districts of the town surprised the militants.
