Hamas Leader Hamdan: Refugee camps in Syria should be neutralized

images_News_2013_01_06_hamdan_300_0Osama Hamdan, who is in charge of foreign relations in Hamas movement, said that his movement was not at present nor in the past a party to the conflict in Syria.

Hamdan told Quds Press on Sunday that Palestinian refugee camps in Syria should be neutralized in the internal fighting in that country.

Hamdan, commenting on Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad’s speech, said that Hamas’s position regarding the Syrian conflict was clear since the beginning, adding that Hamas does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries.

“We have called for a political solution to the Syrian crisis that would enable the Syrian people to meet their aspirations and demands,” the Hamas official said.

“We believe that respecting the peoples’ will lead to building strong countries,” he said, adding that Hamas was never a party in the internal Syrian conflict.

Hamdan warned that targeting Palestinian refugee camps would entail loss on those behind it in addition to inflicting harm to the Palestinians who already suffer from the “Zionist occupation”.
