Hamas: PNC meeting serves Israel and deal of century

Hamas movement on Sunday said that Israel and the deal of the century will be the first beneficiaries of the upcoming Palestinian National Council (PNC) meeting in Ramallah.

Head of Hama’s information department abroad Raafat Murra said in a statement that Israel will take advantage of the current Palestinian disagreements to commit further crimes against the Palestinian people and start the implementation of the deal of the century which involves more settlement and Judaization projects.

The PNC is the highest legislative authority representing Palestinians in the Palestinian territories and abroad. It is composed of 750 members and entitled of developing the political programs of the Palestine Liberation Organization and electing an executive committee and a central council for the Organization.

Many Palestinian political forces, including Hamas, the Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, oppose the convening of the PNC under Israeli authority without national consensus on its agenda.

Murra stressed that any Palestinian council under any name that does not defend the Palestinian rights, does not reject negotiations and the deal of the century, and does not call for lifting the collective punishment and blockade imposed on Gaza is a council that only represents itself.

He added that Hamas does not see in the upcoming PNC meeting, which will be held under Israeli authority in Ramallah, any solid national vision to resist the occupation, defend Jerusalem and the West Bank against Israeli schemes, break the siege on Gaza, and protect the Palestinian refugees’ rights, mainly the right of return.

He continued to say that his Movement does not find in this meeting any serious step toward confronting the US-Israeli alliance which led to the US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and to the threat to end UNRWA’s work in the region.
