Hamas Politician Calls for Arab Transparency on Israeli Aggressions

A senior Palestinian politician called on the Arab countries to adopt a clear stance vis-à-vis the Israeli aggressions against the defenseless civilians in Gaza.

“We want the Arab countries to take a transparent stance on Gaza incidents,” Yousef Razqeh, an advisor to Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, said at a joint press conference with Tunisian Foreign Minister Rafik Abdessalem in Gaza on Saturday.

The Tunisian foreign minister, for his part, said that “aggression (by Israel) against Palestinian citizens is by no means justifiable and is a blatant violation of the international laws and treaties…”

Assaults on Gaza started on Wednesday when the Israeli military launched a series of new air and sea attacks against the Palestinians in the coastal territory.

Ahmed al-Ja’abari, the popular and influential head of the Hamas military wing, the Ezzedeen al-Qassam Brigades, was assassinated in an Israeli attack on his car on Wednesday.

On Friday, Ahmed Abu Jalal, a field commander of the Ezzedeen al-Qassam Brigades, was also killed in an Israeli airstrike on the central Gaza district of Maghazi.

Over 41 people have been killed and more than 350 others injured in the new wave of Israeli attacks.

At least nine Palestinian children have been killed and over 60 others injured in the Israeli airstrikes since Wednesday, according to the UN.

An 11-month-old boy and a pregnant woman are among the dead.

The UN special body for the protection of children has called for an immediate end to the bloodshed. “I call on all parties to immediately stop the violence and to fully respect their obligations under international humanitarian law to protect girls and boys from the fighting,” said the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, Ms Leila Zerrougui.

On Friday, hundred of thousands of Iranians all across the country staged demonstrations to protest at Israel’s attacks on the oppressed Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

Protesters unanimously condemned Zionists’ crimes in the besieged enclave.

The people carrying placards chanted ‘Down with the US’ and ‘Down with the Israel’ and other anti-Zionist slogans.
