The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, has warned the Tel Aviv regime to avoid further “foolish” acts against Palestinians after Israel carried out deadly air raids on the Gaza Strip.

“This shows the occupation’s desire to escalate,” Hamas spokesman, Sami Abu Zuhri, said on Sunday, adding, “We warn the occupation against continuing this foolishness.”

The remarks came hours after a pregnant Palestinian woman and her three-year-old daughter lost their lives as Israeli jets carried out multiple airstrikes on Gaza.

An Israeli military spokesperson claimed that the attacks targeted an alleged weapons manufacturing site belonging to Hamas in response to rocket fire from Gaza.

The developments come amid rising tensions between Palestinian protesters and Israeli troops elsewhere in Palestine, where the two sides have been engaged in heavy clashes over the past several days.

The scuffles were triggered by Tel Aviv’s imposition on August 26 of sweeping restrictions on entries into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds and Israeli settlers’ repeated storming of the mosque, which is Islam’s third holiest site.

The air raid was the Israeli regime’s latest act of aggression against the blockaded Gaza Strip.

The Tel Aviv regime launched a 50-day military offensive against the besieged coastal sliver in the summer of 2014, killing 2,140 Palestinians, including 557 children. The aggression also left 11,100 Palestinians wounded, including 3,374 children and 2,088 women, and displaced over 170,000 others.
