Deputy head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya has urged Arab and Muslim leaders in the region, in letters sent to them, to support al-Quds intifada (uprising) and the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in the face of the occupation.

In his letter to Saudi King Salman Al Saud, Haneyya expressed his sincere thanks to the generous support the Kingdom provides for the Palestinian people in general and for Jerusalem and Gaza in particular.

The Hamas official highlighted the great sacrifices made by the Palestinian people in their third intifada against the Israeli occupation and their legitimate struggle to restore their usurped rights.

“As we are seeing this blessed intifada that started from the courtyards of the Aqsa Mosque and the streets and alleys of Jerusalem and spread in all West Bank areas and Gaza flashpoints, we believe that our people, who trust in their God and his support, are able to extract their rights, liberate their holy sites and land, and defeat their enemy with the help of the loyal and sincere leaders of this nation,” Haneyya said.

He expressed his hope that Saudi Arabia would increase its support for the Palestinians and help them to defend the Islamic holy places.

In another letter sent to Turkish president Recep Erdogan, the Hamas official affirmed that the Palestinian people are thankful to the Turkish honorable position towards their national cause and the issue of the blockade on Gaza.

“You have made many things [for the Palestinians] over years of your leadership and they were great efforts we appreciate them; the latest of which was your pledge to have the electricity infrastructure in Gaza repaired and rehabilitated,” he noted.

Haneyya also sent letters to other heads of state in the region, including leaders of the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
