Haniyeh meets families of the war dead

The Prime Minister of the Gaza Strip, Isamail Haniyeh, has met with the families of those killed during the recent 8-day Israeli offensive to honour them for their sacrifice. The meetings took place at the Rashad Shawa Cultural Centre in Gaza city.

During his address, the Prime Minister said that recent days had formed a watershed between the preparation, development and departure toward the liberation of Palestine and al-Quds (‘Jerusalem’). He went on to thank Muslim and Arab nations for the robust positions they had taken in response to the aggression and for the visits they have paid to the Strip since the truce was agreed. He stressed that it demonstrated that something had changed in the Arab world.

Haniyeh also stressed the significance of Israeli ‘Defence’ Minister Ehud Barak’s resignation from political life comparing it in importance to the resistance’s resounding victory and confirming that it paved the way for Israel’s departure from the Palestinian territories and the establishment of the state.

The meeting was concluded with Haniyeh and other leaders reiterating their thanks and gratitude to those who had been martyred during the aggression.
