Head of Russian Church says world should ‘unite against ISIS evil’

1-38

Patriarch Kirill, the head of the Russian Orthodox church, has called for countries to unite to fight ISIS during an official visit to the UK, where he met Queen Elizabeth II and the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.

He said “Today’s war on terror should be a joint effort. This isn’t just Russia’s fight. It’s for all countries, we should unite to defeat this evil. And this war I call a holy one.”

“I am very pleased with the [results of] this meeting and I must say that I did not expect it to take place in such an atmosphere and at such active level as it did. This conversation has made a very good impression on me, both intellectually and emotionally,” Kirill said.
