Health Minister Hails Iran’s Astonishing Progress in Medical Sciences

Iranian Health Minister Marziyeh Vahid Dastjerdi praised the country’s scientists and researchers for their astonishing progress in medical sciences, and said Iran ranks the 19th in the world in this field.

Vahid Dastjerdi said on Wednesday that Iran ranked 23rd in 2008 in medical sciences in the world based the statistics released by Scopus Database while it advanced to 19th place in 2011.

According to a report by the ministry’s Public Relations Department, she told the closing ceremony of Innovation and Flourishing Festival that laboratory equipment, types of lasers and other products will be produced by Iranian experts in future.

Iran’s advancement in medical sciences is indebted to the efforts taken by the youth and young researchers.

Iran has taken wide strides in science and technology, particularly in medical and medicinal fields, in recent years.

In September Vahid Dastjerdi had announced that Iran plans to boost its capacities and capabilities in a bid to make a huge and rapid advancement in drug production by synthesizing 15 types of anti-cancer medicines.

“15 types of monoclonal anti-body drugs are being synthesized with the help of the Scientific Department of the Presidential Office, using hi-tech technology,” Vahid Dastjerdi said at the time.

Also, Iranian scientists in April succeeded in producing new types of medication for treating different kinds of cancer, viral diseases and arthritis with 100% positive results.

“The medicine has been synthesized through a new and unique formula and has the capability to destroy all malignant cancerous cells,” Head of the research team Qassem Tak Dehqan told reporters at the time.
