Hezbollah and the Syrian Army Unearth a Large Tunnel in Al-Zabadani: More Territory Captured

On Saturday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s 63rd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), and the National Defense Forces (NDF) – uncovered one of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham’s large supply tunnels that stretched from the Beit Al-Dalati Neighborhood to the outskirts of southern Al-Zabadani.

According to a military source in Damascus, the large tunnel unearthed by the SAA’s 63rd Brigade and Hezbollah was used by Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham militants to resupply and reinforce their embattled combatants that were completely surrounded by the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance near Al-Zabadani’s city-center.

Following the discovery of this tunnel, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance continued their advance inside Al-Zabadani, capturing the Beit Al-Dalati Neighborhood after intense clashes with the Islamist rebels of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, the Free Syrian Army’s “Al-Zabadani Hawks Brigade” and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra.”

In addition to the capture of the Beit Al-Dalati Neighborhood, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance advanced to the Dawar Al-Salwaan Neighborhood, where they confronted a large contingent of Jabhat Al-Nusra and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham combatants’ en-route to their march towards Al-Zabadani’s downtown area.

Assisting their comrades from the air, the Syrian Arab Air Force(SAAF) conducted over 40 airstrikes above Al-Zabadani and Madaya on Saturday, targeting a number of hideouts belonging to the Islamist rebels.
