Hezbollah chief meets with Berri

Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah has met with Lebanese Parliamentary Speaker Nabih Berri to discuss the latest developments in the country.

The meeting on Sunday night focused on the recent Lebanon’s visit by leaders of Saudi Arabia and Syria, a Press TV correspondent reported.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Saudi King Abdullah met Lebanese President Michel Sleiman and other officials on Friday.

Following Friday’s meeting, Lebanon, Syria and Saudi Arabia issued a joint statement that called on all parties to put Lebanon’s interests above all else and refrain from violence.

“Solidarity is a necessity, and standing side-by-side to confront challenges facing the Arab world,” they said.

Nasrallah and Berri also praised Lebanon’s security forces for revealing several Israeli espionage networks.

Lebanon has arrested nearly 100 people on suspicion of spying for Israel since April 2009. Several suspects are employees of the country’s telecommunication sector.
