Hezbollah chief praises Iran’s backing for resistance

373086_Hezbollah-HeadHezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah has lauded the Iranian nation’s “firm” and “permanent” support for the resistance front, saying unity among Muslims will foil all enemy plots.

Nasrallah made the comments in a Sunday meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in the Lebanese capital Beirut, where the two sides discussed the crisis in Gaza amid fatal Israeli raids on the besieged Palestinian territory.

He further pointed to the massive rallies recently held in Iran to support the Palestinian nation against Israeli occupation and atrocities, saying unity among Muslims thwarts the “divisive plots” hatched by enemies of the Islamic Ummah.

On July 25, millions of Iranians flooded the streets nationwide to voice their solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian people on the occasion of International Quds Day, which falls on the last Friday of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

Amir-Abdollahian, in turn, elaborated on the recent measures adopted by the Islamic Republic to provide Gazans with humanitarian assistance and help end the Israeli regime’s crippling blockade on the impoverished Palestinian land.

The Iranian official further said Tel Aviv’s recourse to the targeted killings of women and children in Gaza shows the regime’s desperation in facing the strength of Palestinian resistance fighters.

He also reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s support for the resistance movements in Lebanon and Palestine against the Zionist regime of Israel.

Israeli war on Gaza has claimed the lives of more than 1,060 Palestinians since July 8. At least 6,000 others have also been injured in the military offensive.

While Tel Aviv confirms the death of 43 Israelis in Gaza war, Hamas puts the number at about 100.
