Hezbollah commander martyred in Syria clashes with foreign-backed terrorists

337420_Hezbollah-SharafeddineA field commander of Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah martyred in clashes with foreign-backed terrorists near the Syrian capital, Damascus, reports say.

Wissam Sharafeddine, nicknamed “Sayyed Nasrallah,” was killed in Eastern Ghouta, east of Damascus, Wednesday night “while performing his sacred jihadist duty,” bintjbeil.org website said.

Hezbollah also confirmed the death of Sharafeddine, adding that several anti-Syria foreign militants were also killed in the clashes.

A funeral also was held Thursday in the southern Lebanese town of Rishknaniyeh in the Tyre District for the slain Hezbollah military commander.

In late May, Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah said that the members of the Lebanese resistance movement were battling the anti-government militants alongside Syrian government forces in the strategic border town of al-Qusayr — an important center and supply route for the foreign-sponsored militants.

The strategic town was recaptured on July 4 following three weeks of fighting with militants.

The Hezbollah leader said if foreign-backed militants win the war on Syria, they will turn their weapons on Lebanon.

Nasrallah further pointed out that the extremist Salafist groups form the backbone of the unrest in Syria, adding that the US-backed armed groups are also a threat to all Lebanese communities.

Nasrallah said the ongoing war in Syria is part of an American project to change the balance of power in the region in favor of the Israeli regime.

He, however, promised victory against the Salafist groups in Syria.

Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies – namely Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey – are supporting the terrorists operating inside Syria.

More than 100,000 people have been killed since the beginning of the conflict in Syria in March 2011.

The foreign-backed terrorists has also forced millions of Syrians to flee their homes.
