Hezbollah Condemns Arrest of Sheikh Al-Nimr: Stop undemocratic Measures

Hezbollah strongly condemned the arrest of Sheikh Baqer Al-Nimr in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

In a statement issued in Monday, Hezbollah condemned the violent abuses of the Saudi security forces against the peaceful protesters in the city of Qatif and Awamiya what led to the fall of martyrs and wounded.”

As Hezbollah called for the immediate release of Sheikh Nimr and providing him with the necessary treatment as well as respecting religious symbols, it called upon the Saudi authorities to refrain from committing “undemocratic measures in dealing with the peaceful and legitimate demands of Saudi citizens.”

Hezbollah expressed its concern and pain over the Saudi authorities attack on religious figures the latest of which was the recent arrest of Sheikh Nimr for “committing no crime at all, but rather for calling for implementing the lowest levels of civil rights, which is stipulated by all international laws, and seeking to end the policy of discrimination among citizens.”

Saudi forces set up an ambush for the Imam of Awamiya mosque Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr on Sunday. He was seriously injured after being shot as he returned to his home, and there were reports that his health is at risk.
