Hezbollah Dominates the Faleeta Barrens in the Qalamoun Mountains

It did not take long for Hezbollah and the Syrian Armed Forces to take control of the remaining territory in the Qalamoun Mountains; however, not many observers expected the rapid disintegration of the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra’s” frontline defenses on the Lebanese-Syrian border, especially after they began this battle on the offensive.

Monday morning did not start off very well for Jabhat Al-Nusra, as Hezbollah – in coordination with the 20th and 128th Brigades of the 1st Armored Division – overwhelmed their combatants at the Faleeta Barrens, resulting in the death of over 24 confirmed militants and the destruction of three armored vehicles that were mounted with a variety of anti-aircraft machine guns.

Following their control of the Faleeta Barrens, Hezbollah and the Syrian Armed Forces pushed their way to the Jaroud Faleeta-Jaroud ‘Arsaal border-crossing that Jabhat Al-Nusra captured last week; this resulted in the Lebanese Resistance and their allies imposing their will on the enemy combatants before taking complete control of this last border-crossing that the militants possessed in the Qalamoun Mountains.

With the Faleeta Barrens under their control, Hezbollah and the Syrian Armed Forces are now preparing for their final assault on the militants of Jabhat Al-Nusra at the heavily fortified “Jubbah Heights” that are located southeast of Ras Al-Marra in the central part of the Qalamoun Mountains.
