Hezbollah leader holds talks with Iranian delegation

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah held talks in Beirut with an Iranian parliamentary delegation headed by Alaeddine Boroujerdi, the chairman of the Iranian Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, the party’s media office said on Saturday.
Nasrallah and Boroujerdi discussed a range of issues concerning the region, the English language Lebanese newspaper Daily Star reported.

The Iranian delegation arrived in Beirut on Thursday for a two-day visit.

The Iranian MPs met with Lebanese President Michel Sleiman and Speaker Nabih Berri among other officials.

During the visit, which followed a trip to Damascus, Boroujerdi said Iran would never negotiate on its support for the resistance, referring to Hezbollah, Tehran’s ally in Lebanon.

In his meeting with Berri on Friday, Boroujerdi strongly condemned the Zionist regime’s recent air strike on the Lebanese territory.

Boroujerdi also said the war in Syria and bomb blasts in Lebanon are directed by the Zionist regime and backed by the United States.

The terrorists in Syria are armed by the U.S. and the crisis in the region is being aggravated by a continued supply of weapons to terrorists, the senior Iranian MP explained.

Countries in the region and beyond are aware that the political solution is the only way out of the Syrian crisis, Boroujerdi said.

Syria war will benefit Israel

Berri said that the continuation of the Syrian crisis will serve the interest of the Zionist regime of Israel.

In a separate meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam on Friday, Boroujerdi expressed hope that the new Lebanese government would tackle the security problems in the country.

He called on the Lebanese government to improve the security around the Iranian embassy in Beirut and appreciated the detention of some agents responsible for the terrorist attack against the Iranian embassy in Lebanon.

Two bomb blasts happened near the Iranian embassy compound in Beirut on November 19, 2013, then later in December, the Lebanese police announced that they had identified the two suicide bombers who attacked the embassy.

Boroujerdi also held a meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebren Gerge Bassil on Friday during which bilateral relations and the fate of four Iranian diplomats kidnapped in Lebanon in 1982 were discussed.

He urged the Lebanese government to follow up the fate of the Iranian diplomats as well as Imam Mussa Sadr.

Cooperation with Iran is in favor of all regional countries, he noted.
