Homs: Hundreds of Terrorists Lay Down Arms in Al-Wa’er

 

Hundreds of militants stationed in al-Wa’er region of Homs city surrendered themselves and their weapons to the Syrian authorities to return to normal life as the soldiers of President Bashar al-Assad continue to capture more regions across the country.

More than 500 militants from al-Wa’er neighborhood in Homs city were granted amnesty by the government within the framework of the reconciliation agreement that was reached in the neighborhood, paving the way for the return of all state services back into operation.

A source at the reconciliation committee said that the government has granted amnesty to 545 militants from al-Wa’er neighborhood so far.

The source added that the reconciliation committee continues its work around the clock at the building of the Criminal Security Branch in al-Wa’er neighborhood to grant amnesty to all those who lay down arms.

Reports said on Tuesday that more than 200 militants ended fight against the Syrian Army in Homs province and received government amnesty.

Over 200 militants from al-Wa’er neighborhood in Homs that had laid down arms and applied for government pardoning were granted amnesty on Tuesday.

In a press statement, Homs Governor Talal al-Barazi said that the settlement process of those who want to join the agreement according to amnesty decree No. 15 for 2016 still continues.

A sum of 150 militants had also received government amnesty on Monday too.

Relevant reports also said on Sunday that more than 1,400 militants who rejected the government’s peace offer have left al-Wa’er district along with their family members.
