Hundreds of militants reconcile with Syrian government in northern Daraa

As the agreement on Syrian “de-escalation zones” is being gradually fulfilled, more and more opposition-held towns and villages join the reconciliation process.

On Saturday, hundreds of militants passed their weapons to Syrian authorities in Mahajja village in northern Dara’a countryside, effectively having their legal status settled.

Mahajja is located directly to the left of Damascus – Dara’a Highway. Its location is marked by a five-point star on the map below:

Lots of weapons and ammo have been voluntarily laid down by the militants:

In the meantime, while the reconciliation process between Syrian government and armed groups is underway in northern parts of Dara’a province, Free Syrian Army (FSA) factions and allied jihadists of Ha’yat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) mobilize their forces for a major military campaign against so-called “Islamic State” (IS, formerly ISIL/ISIS) in southwestern Dara’a countryside.
