Diplomats say the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is expected to issue a report confirming Iran’s commitment to an interim nuclear deal it signed with the 5+1 group last year.

According to Press TV, diplomats said the report which is a monthly update is due to be released on Friday but they did not give any further details.

The report is the fifth since the interim nuclear deal between Tehran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany came into force on January 20.

Last month’s report of the IAEA suggested Iran had been complying with the terms of the Geneva nuclear agreement.

Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council – China, Russia, Britain, France, and the United States – plus Germany clinched a landmark interim deal in the Swiss city of Geneva on November 24, 2013.

Under the Geneva deal, dubbed the Joint Plan of Action, the six countries undertook to provide Iran with some sanctions relief in exchange for the Islamic Republic agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities during a six-month period.

The two sides have been holding talks to iron out their differences to finalize a nuclear deal. The latest round of talks started in Vienna on Tuesday and is scheduled to resume on Friday.
On Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who leads the Iranian negotiating delegation, said that Tehran and the six countries have started drafting a final deal.
