Ibrahim Jafari: Islamic awakening conference aims to promote cultural status of Muslim women

Former Iraqi prime minister and Head of the International Conference on Women and Islamic Awakening Ibrahim Jafari said on Thursday that the conference has provided a suitable opportunity for elite women to uphold their cultural status.

Speaking to IRNA, he said elite women from 85 Islamic stats have presented their articles and exchanged views on various topics.

He described the event as positive and said intellectuals across the globe exchanged their views on various issues which should be regarded as the best achievement of the conference.

He also termed their meeting with the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei as very fruitful which opened a new horizon for Muslim women around the world.

He expressed the hope that the conference would help take significant strides for women in Islamic communities.

The status of the women participating in the international event was remarkably high, he said, adding that the level of knowledge and understanding of women in countries such as Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Bahrain and Yemen cannot be compared to that of western women.
