Syrian Army troops stormed the strongholds of a group of terrorists in Idlib’s countryside, killing the entire militants, including their commander.

Sobhi Khanous nom de guerre Abu Afif, the commander of the militant group, and his comrades were killed in the army offensive on their base near the village of Kafr Awid.

The terrorists’ equipment and weapons also were destroyed in the attack.

Also Syrian fighter jets carried out several combat flights over bases and gatherings of Fatah al-Sham Front (the newly-formed al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group previously known as the al-Nusra Front) near the towns of Khan Sheikhoun, al-Tamanna and Ma’arat al-Nu’aman and in the village of Kansafreh in Ariha region, destroying their bases’ infrastructures and inflicting tens of casualties on them.

A senior Syrian lawmaker said on Sunday that his country’s army was ready to crack down on the terrorist groups in Idlib in the Northwest as well as the ISIL militants fleeing from Iraq’s Mosul to Syria’s East.

“As the humanitarian pause in Aleppo ended, the Syrian army and its allies are preparing for massive operations to destroy the terrorists in this city (Aleppo) and in Idlib,” Syrian lawmaker Alan Bakr told FNA on Sunday.

“The army is also ready and resolved to combat the ISIL terrorists fleeing from the Iraqi city of Mosul to Syria.”

The Syrian lawmaker noted that as the ceasefire ended in Aleppo, the terrorists were trying to reinforce and find access to weapons in a bid to continue their battle against the Syrian government forces, and said, “The Syrian army’s response to the terrorists in the region will be more crushing than before.”

Bakr said that the big battle of Aleppo did not start because Turkey and the US did not cease supporting the terrorists, including Ahrar al-Sham, in Northern Syria.

He reiterated that the terrorists were pursuing the plots of the foreigners that aws the disintegration of Syria, and said, “Syria and its people are not important to the terrorists at all.”
