Supreme Leader Warns against Enemies’ Plots to Sow Discord among Muslims

The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Seyed Ali Khamenei urged the Muslim Ummah (community) to increase vigilance as enemies of Islam are hatching increasing plots to stir sectarian strife among them.

“A major problem of the Muslim World today is the imposed, intentional and wicked problem of kindling differences among the Muslim Ummah and (Islam’s) religious sects,” Imam Khamenei said addressing Hajj officials in Tehran on Monday.

The Supreme Leader said that the global arrogance and colonialist powers are fully experienced in igniting sectarian strife among Muslims, adding, “Hajj’s capacities should be used for confronting (and defusing) these plots under the present conditions.”

“The confrontation (that the enemies are trying spark) among the religious sects will not be limited to the Shiite-Sunni confrontation and if the enemies of Islam can institutionalize these confrontations, they will put on their agenda sparking intenal differences inside the different Shiite sects and Sunni sects,” Imam Ali Khamenei said.

Last month in a message to the millions of Muslim pilgrims who were in Mecca for Hajj rituals, Ayatollah Khamenei condemned the attempts made by certain countries and parties to create tension and dispute among the Shiite and Sunni Muslims, reiterating that sowing discord among Muslims is “religiously banned”.

“I declare once again that any statement and action that will ignite the fire of dispute among the Muslims and also sacrilege of the sanctities of any Muslim group or excommunication of any Islamic sect is (rendering) service to the camp of blasphemy and polytheism, disloyalty to Islam and is religiously haram (forbidden),” the Leader said.

He also expressed abhorrence of the massacre of innocent people in different parts of the world under the name of religion, and said, “The armed people who kill children and women and behead men, rape women and even in some cases commit these shameful and disgusting crimes under the name and banner of religion, all of them are the result of the evil and arrogant plots of the aliens’ security agencies and the ruling elements who collaborate with them in the region.”

Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that the fundamental and basic remedy for such mischief and crimes are two things, “first: unity and brotherhood among Muslims under the banner of monotheism. Second: identifying the enemy and confronting its plots and methods.”

In relevant remarks in June, the Supreme Leader asked Muslim nations to grow united against the arrogant powers, warning that gaps in the Muslim community would create an opportunity for the Zionist regime to implement its plots against them.

“Unity and companionship among Muslims is an urgent obligation,” Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing participants in the 30th International Quran Competitions in Tehran.

He pointed out that massacre, bloodshed, blind terrorism and its related catastrophes as well as the opportunities created for the occupying Zionist regime are all outcomes of division and difference in the Islamic Ummah.

“Today is the day of test for the Muslims and Islamic states, and Muslim nations should be completely vigilant,” the Iranian Supreme Leader cautioned.

Ayatollah Khamenei warned of the West’s campaign against Islam and the Muslim world, and said the western enemies are showing their hostility towards Muslims very openly, “thus, the Islamic Ummah should reinvigorate its intrinsic ability and power factors, and one of the most important factors in this regard is unity, integration and focus on commonalities”.
