Imam Khomeini made issue of support for Palestine, political ideolog

Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Tuesday that the late Imam Khomeini has made the issue of support for Palestinian people a political ideology.

He made the remarks in a meeting with members of Association of Iran-Palestine Friendship Group.

‘Iranian nation have a historical sense of solidarity with Palestine and Iranian religious leaders stood by the oppressed Palestinian people vis-a-vis the Zionist regime before triumph of the Islamic Revolution too.’

Larijani recalled recommendation of the late Imam Khomeini for the Palestinian people to stand up to the occupying regime as the only way to attain their rights.

Elsewhere in his address, Larijani said that the Islamic Awakening movements in the region has driven the Zionist regime to isolation and created a capacity for the Palestinian people not to compromise with the occupying regime.

Chairman of Association of Iran-Palestine Friendship Group Abdulkarim Sharqi appreciated Iranian support for Palestine and said that the Iranian nation have undertaken key role in victory of the resistance movement to the Israeli occupation.

He acknowledged Iranian support for the resistance movement during Israeli invasion of Gaza Strip and southern Lebanon.

Sharqi said that resistance to the Israeli occupation is the only way to liberate Palestinian territories.

‘Currently destroying the occupying regime is no longer a dream. The Palestinian resistance movement has made great strides in this respect,’ Sharqi said.

He said that compromise with the Zionist regime has dealt a blow to the Palestinian nation.
