Ingenuity key to progress: Ahmadinejad

The Iranian president says innovation holds the key to progress, highlighting elite’s key role in spurring national development.

Speaking at a national conference of elites on Tuesday, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad underlined it is not possible to ‘conquer the peaks of progress’ without innovation and ingenuity.

He stated that innovators and elites who are flag-bearers of the country’s development should work in harmony with other segments of the society to keep the nation moving ahead on the path to progress.

Also in the conference, Ahmadinejad inaugurated 12 national elites’ offices in different provinces via video conference.

He then expressed hope the elites’ offices will help expedite national development and progress.

Iran has secured numerous accomplishments on different scientific fronts, including nanotechnology and cloning.

The government’s overall policy is to achieve self-sufficiency in different areas. To that end, the country has achieved many breakthroughs in various fields.

Just two months ago, the country unveiled its largest domestically-manufactured telescope.

Ahmadinejad also announced in July that Iran plans to launch its first manned shuttle into space by 2019.
