Intelligence Ministry pursuing case of BBC agents

The Islamic Republic of Iran Intelligence Ministry was seriously pursuing investigations into the case of BBC agents who were busy feeding British spy agencies under the color of media work.

Minister of Intelligence Heidar Moslehi said the ministry took on the case after it found a trail of espionage behind the media cover.

The minister said minimum arrests had been made in the case, adding however that more arrests would be made if deemed necessary without any reservations.

The minister touched on a hasty reaction by directors of the BBC Persian Service towards the arrests, adding that they made the nervous statements both in a bid to influence the Iranian authorities and to soothe their colleagues inside Iran.

The minister then pointed to a BBC plea to the British bodies and even the US bodies for help. “They call themselves independent however they try to influence Iran to backtrack on the case but to no avail,” Mr. Moslehi said.

The minister slammed the BBC for hosting a mosaic of Iranian anti-revolutionary individuals and said the network was an organizer of 2009 seditious riots in Tehran.
