Intensifying Sanctions against Iran Prove Failure of Previous Embargoes

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Expatriates’ Affairs Hassan Qashqavi underlined Iran’s economic power and potentials, and said the current efforts made by the Great Satan US and its allies to intensify their unilateral sanctions against Tehran show inefficiency and failure of previous embargos.

“(The western countries’ struggles for) intensifying sanctions against Iran shows the inefficiency of the previous sanctions,” Qashqavi said in an interview on Monday, referring to the speculations about a potential Western bid to impose sanctions on Iran’s oil sector.

He stressed Iran’s firm resolve to make progress in different scientific, industrial and defensive fields irrespective of certain countries’ animosities, and said, “Sanctions are like a rusty sword that has no effect on the current decisions of the Islamic Republic’s officials”.

In relevant remarks last week, The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei also dismissed effectiveness of the western sanctions against Iran, and underlined that the country has proved to be successful despite all pressures.

The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei said the Islamic republic has achieved “eye-catching successes” in its confrontation with the western powers and their economic and propaganda campaigns.

“Countering the sanctions and progress in nuclear (technology) is part of these accomplishments,” The Supreme Leader said in a meeting with members of the Islamic Associations Union of Iranian students in Europe.

This triumphant trend will not subside and will continue apace in future, he added.

“The enemy is repeatedly suffering defeats and setbacks, despite its all-out security and political measures against the Islamic Republic,” The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei reiterated.

Iran is under four rounds of UN Security Council sanctions for turning down West’s calls to give up its right of uranium enrichment, saying the demand is politically tainted and illogical.

Iran has so far ruled out halting or limiting its nuclear work in exchange for trade and other incentives, saying that renouncing its rights under the NPT would encourage the world powers to put further pressure on the country and would not lead to a change in the West’s hardline stance on Tehran.

Iranian officials have always stressed that the International and unilateral sanctions against Iran have had no result but inflicting damage on the European companies.
