Int’l Conference on ‘Women, Islamic Awakening’ Wraps Up Work in Tehran in presence of 1500 elite women from 180 countries

The two-day international conference on ‘Women and Islamic Awakening’ ended work in Tehran on Thursday.

The closing ceremony of the international event was held at auditorium of Tehran’s Milad Tower, in the presence of the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei’s Consultant in International Affairs and Secretary General of World Forum on Islamic Awakening Ali-Akbar Velayati, who gave an address, and over 500 elite female activists in various cultural and social fields.

The keynote speaker at the opening ceremony of the event was the Islamic Republic of Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday at the opening ceremony of the World Assembly of Women and Islamic Awakening in presence of 1500 elite women from 180 countries including Iran the hegemonic powers are abusing human rights for their interventionist goals.

He said the hegemonic powers are deceiving the world with their false motto of defending human rights, freedom, rights of nations, prospects for better life, democracy and political and economic development which according to them will be available by bombardment and military intervention on sovereign nations.

He said the current world order and the global governing system are in need of basic change and an overhaul because the international community could not cope with the paralysis in administration of the global affairs.

“The Islamic Awakening is the most original ground for the basic changes in the world order. The whole world has to undergo transformation all at once,” President Ahmadinejad said.

He said that any nation which decides to make a change and go away from the colonial powers to develop national independence will be targeted by all international organizations.

On the role of women in social development, he said that both men and women play their own due role, adding that he believes the role of women in social development is more significant and enduring.
