Iran’s Rasad Satellite Sends First Images from Space

First images have been received Sunday from Iran’s Rasad satellite which was launched into orbit last Wednesday.

According to Deputy Defense Minister Reza Mozaffari, the received images have indicated that Rasad satellite was working in the best condition and it “is in a position better than what was predicted for.”
Rasad is the first domestic video satellite with the capability of grabbing video images with the resolution of more than 150 meters.
The 15.3 kg satellite was made by experts of Iran’s Malek Ashtar Industrial University. It was sent to the 260-km altitude on June 15 and has so far circled 59 times round the earth.

The publicity center of Iran’s Defense Ministry quoted Mozaffari in a statement today as saying that new orders have been given to Rasad for sending more images to the earth from its future positions.
