Iran among top 10 military powers in world: Defense Minister

Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi says the Islamic Republic is now among the top 10 countries in the world in defense capabilities.

“I can state with confidence that in the defense sector Iran is among the top 10 countries in the world,” Brigadier General Vahidi told reporters in Tehran on Sunday.

On June 7, Iranian Assistant Defense Minister Brigadier General Ali Shamshiri said that Iran currently ranks among the top military powers of the world in missile capabilities.

He also noted that the Islamic Republic is in a superior position in terms of defense capabilities.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in essential military hardware and defense systems.

The country has repeatedly made it clear that its military might is merely based on the state’s defense doctrine of deterrence and that it poses no threat to other countries.
