Iran and Iraq expressed their firm determination to maintain their support for the Resistance Front
Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has affirmed the unwavering resolve of both Iran and Iraq to maintain their backing of the Resistance Front.

During a joint press conference held on Monday, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, remarked alongside his Iraqi counterpart, Mahmoud al-Mashhadani. Al-Mashhadani, who assumed office in late October 2024, is currently in Tehran on his inaugural foreign visit since taking up the parliamentary role.
Efforts are underway to bolster political and economic ties, a move deemed crucial for fostering regional peace and stability among Arab and non-Arab Muslim nations.
An Iranian official announced that both nations, along with their respective parliaments and governments, are actively collaborating to enhance regional and global cooperation efforts.
A senior Iranian lawmaker has praised the extensive and profound ties between Iran and Iraq, highlighting strong cooperation across religious, cultural, social, political, economic, security, and defense domains.
Qalibaf emphasized that Tehran and Baghdad have prioritized enhancing parliamentary relations as a strategic step towards strengthening economic collaboration.
He called upon the parliaments of Iran and Iraq to facilitate the implementation of agreements established during President Abdul Latif Rashid’s diplomatic visit to Tehran in May.
Iraq Reiterates Support for Iran, Affirms Mashhadani
Mashhadani reported that he engaged in discussions with his Iranian counterpart on a range of topics, including border management, water resources, transportation infrastructure, security and border zones, as well as concerns involving armed terrorist organizations.
In light of recent developments in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament has stated that Iraq maintains the stance that regional security and stability must remain inviolable and free from disruption by any parties.
The Iraqi official emphasized the necessity for security and stability throughout the entire region. He further expressed Baghdad’s aspirations to see its relations with Tehran continue to thrive.
