Iran Armed Forces reject PA-Israel talks

The Iranian Armed Forces Headquarters has rejected as misleading any direct Israeli-Palestinian talks, saying such talks are bound to fail.

Different “misleading” plans under the name of peace talks have been devised by the US and the Zionist regime but they have all failed due to “global awareness,” it said in a statement on Wednesday, ILNA reported.

What can never be ignored regarding the Palestinian issue is the “return of all Palestinians to their homeland, the establishment of an independent government and the expulsion of the occupiers,” it added.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and acting Palestinian Authority (PA) Chief Mahmoud Abbas are scheduled to resume direct talks in Washington on Thursday. The talks froze in December 2008 after Israel launched a deadly attack on the Gaza Strip.

The statement of the Iranian Armed Forces Headquarters also calls for a massive turnout by the Iranian nation for International Quds Day rallies on Friday, terming it a “major test” for all Muslims across the world to show their support for the Palestinian nation.

The International Quds Day was designated by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Rouhollah Khomeini.

The day is observed on the last Friday of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, during which Muslims across the world hold rallies in support of their brothers in faith, the Palestinians.
