Iran Army will counter any aggression with might: Cmdr.

Commander of Iran’s Army Brigadier General Ataollah Salehi says the Iranian armed forces monitor all threats and will deliver a crushing response to any aggression against the country.

In a message on the occasion of Army Day on Saturday, Salehi said that the Army and other Iranian armed forces vigilantly monitor all threats and will respond to any act of aggression in shortest time possible and with authority.

Salehi said the Iranian Army’s presence on all ground, aerial and naval borders as well as its use of indigenous military equipment and its increasing preparedness in carrying out regional and trans-regional missions has forced bullying and arrogant powers to resort to stoking dissention and imposing sanctions.

The Iranian commander added that Iran’s cooperation with the international community to guarantee peace and stability in the region by deploying naval fleets to the Gulf of Aden, the Suez Canal and the Red Sea to fight terrorism and piracy is a clear message of peace to friendly countries.

Iran’s Navy has increased its presence in international waters since last year, deploying vessels in the Indian Ocean and sending two ships via the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean for the first time in February 2011.

In addition, in line with international efforts to combat piracy and protect the security of naval routes, the Navy has been conducting anti-piracy patrols in the Gulf of Aden since November 2008 to safeguard vessels involved in maritime trade, especially the ships and oil tankers owned or leased by Iran.

The Islamic Republic has repeatedly asserted that its overseas naval presence is meant to convey the message of peace and friendship to other countries.
