An Iranian border guard has been killed in an armed clash with terrorists in the border region of Saravan in Sistan-and-Baluchestan Province, southeast of Iran.

Rajabali Sheikhzadeh, deputy Governor-General of Zahedan, the capital of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, said on Tuesday that one border guard was killed and four others were wounded in a clash with terrorists on Sunday.

Sheikhzadeh said the terrorists escaped into Pakistan after suffering massive loss.

On October 25, 17 Iranian border guards lost their lives and six others were wounded in a shooting assault in Saravan, which is near Iran’s border with Pakistan. The assailants, calling themselves Jaish-ul-Adl, had infiltrated into Iran from Pakistan and fled back into the country after the clash.

In February, Iran and Pakistan signed a security agreement, under which both countries are required to cooperate in preventing and combating organized crime, fighting terrorism and countering activities which pose a threat to the national security of either country.
