Iran, Britain resume diplomatic ties

As the rapprochement between Tehran and several Western nations continues, Iran’s non-resident Charge D’Affaires to the UK, Mohammad Hassan Habibollahzadeh, arrived in London to begin his assignment.
As talks between Iran and the Western nations continue efforts are being made to normalize relations and for the first time in over two years direct contact has been established on a diplomatic level between the UK and Tehran and to symbolize that, the Iranian flag once again is flying over the Embassy in London. Habibollahzadeh’s arrival represents direct diplomatic contact. It stops short of full relations being restored but is a step towards the respective embassies being reopened in both Tehran and London. And from today 20 February we start direct contact with each other and right now there is a direct relationship between the 2 countries. In order to thank the Sultanate of Oman for representing Iran’s interests in London over the past 2 years, the Omani flag was ceremoniously handed back to the Omani representative, Ahmed Al Kathiri.Ahmed al kathiri deputy head of mission for Oman in London. Iran and Oman have a very strong relationship a very deep history and we share a common understanding in a lot of issues.We relayed messages, technical support, logistic support. We tried to help the local community here, the Iranian local community.
