Iran calls for immediate end to violence in Syria

The Iranian foreign minister called on Tuesday for an immediate end to acts of violence in Syria.
Ali Akbar Salehi made the remarks in a meeting with Syrian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham who entered Tehran on Monday.

Laham, heading a delegation, is visiting Tehran to explore ways to strengthen ties, promote parliamentary relations, and discuss the Syrian crisis.

During the meeting, Salehi also briefed the Syrian official on Iran’s consultations with the countries in the region and beyond particularly its efforts to promote the Egyptian-drafted initiative to find a solution to the two-year old crisis in Syria.

The Syrian parliament speaker, for his part, praised the Iranian leadership for their support to the Syrian government and nation.

He also elaborated on the efforts by the Syrian parliament to help resolve the crisis in the country.

Laham on Tuesday also held a meeting with Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili.
