Iran calls for stronger ties with UAE

IRI Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi has called for closer political and economic cooperation between Iran and the United Arab Emirates.

Salehi made the remarks in a meeting with his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

The Iranian Foreign Minister put the volume of bilateral trade at $25 billion and called for an increase in the level of trade transactions between the two countries.

The two also discussed the latest regional developments and ways to end the ongoing crisis in Bahrain.

Salehi returned to the Islamic Republic in the early hours of Monday after his formal day-long visit to the Persian Gulf state.
