Iran calls on opposing sides in Egypt to end violence

314021_origIran on Sunday called on all sides involved in recent bloody conflicts in Egypt to exercise restraint to help end the escalating violence unleashed after the army’s removal of Egyptian president Morsi.
Expressing deep concern about the course of developments in Egypt, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Araqchi said, “There is no doubt that the Egyptian people are vigilant about any attempt by the enemies to derail their revolution.”

“We call on all national and Islamic institutions, organizations, and figures in Egypt to respect national cohesion, the fundamental rights of the people, and the principles of a democratic trend to help pave the way for dialogue, national reconciliation, and the establishment of a civil society,” Araqchi added.
