‘Iran can spot missile targets, aircraft’

A senior Iranian commander says the country is capable of monitoring and spotting missile targets and the enemy’s aircrafts beyond Iran’s borders, and is prepared to take measures in accordance.

The commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base, Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili, said on Sunday that the Iranian military base will make utmost use of the country’s defense potential including Iran’s Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps and is ready to exercise air defense beyond borders, IRNA reported.

He emphasized that the base fully monitors Iran’s airspace, adding, “We will not sacrifice the country’s security for economic incomes.”

The military base will not permit “suspicious” aircraft to enter the Iranian territory even if they bring revenues to the country.”

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.

The Islamic Republic has repeatedly assured that its military might poses no threat to other countries, saying its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
