Iran cleric: Wake up to Israel crimes

A senior Iranian cleric has called on Muslim countries to take position against the Israeli regime’s massacre of Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

“This great tragedy has hurt the conscience of humanity, and Islamic countries claiming to be advocates of human rights must wake up,” Kazem Seddiqi told worshippers at the weekly Friday Prayers in Tehran.

He compared Israel with a “wolf” that has long been charging at nations in the Middle East region.

Seddiqi said in an allusion to the veto-wielding members of the United Nations Security Council that the governments which founded Israel are currently giving the green light to the Israeli crimes through their power of veto.

The Iranian cleric stated that the ISIL Takfiri militants are operating in Iraq in order to let the Israeli regime go ahead with its crimes against the Palestinians.

He, however, added that the Israeli regime is facing “full annihilation” due to the failure of its US-funded Iron Dome missile system.

Israeli warplanes began pounding the blockaded Gaza Strip on July 8. The Israeli military also launched a ground offensive against the blockaded coastal sliver on Thursday.

Reports say the Tel Aviv regime’s latest attacks against Gaza have so far killed over 260 people, with a third of the fatalities being women and children.

Iran has also repeatedly called for a collective global response to the Israeli brutalities, saying Tel Aviv must be tried and punished for war crimes against the Palestinians.
